Welcome to MUAB

A small, friendly and inclusive Victorian Bushwalking club

Acknowledgement of Country

Melbourne University and Alumni Bushwalkers acknowledge the traditional owners of all country throughout Victoria and Australia where we walk. We acknowledge the traditional owners’ connections to land, waters and culture. We pay our respect to their elders past and present.

Welcome

to Melbourne University and Alumni Bushwalkers. We are a small, friendly group of bushwalkers, with a wide range of interests. The club has its origins in the University of Melbourne and its alumni across many faculties. We welcome new members of all ages who love bushwalking and the environment.

We walk on the third Saturday of each month from February to November. The walks are approximately10-15 km long, from a starting point within a couple of hours of Melbourne. There are generally shorter options available on each walk for different levels of fitness.  Members provide their own transport, with many members forming ‘carpools’. Every year we have a ‘weekend of walks’, and one or two ‘week of walks’, away from Melbourne. We invite you to contact us with any questions.

Useful Links

This page provides contacts and links to Government departments and other peak bodies which give information on various aspects of bushwalking safety.

What to take

The following gives a general idea of what you should take on a walk. It will vary according to personal preference, and the nature and circumstance of the walk.

Join Us

We invite prospective members to check out the club by doing an initial walk with us to get to know the group and how it operates. After that you are free to apply to join formally.
