The walking group of eleven traveled beyond the Mount Macedon settlements of autumnal gardens and verges to the heights of the mountain and into the Australian bush of Macedon Regional Park. We ‘camped’ at Mcgregor’s picnic ground for the day.
On the morning walk we took the lower track around the Camel’s Hump and onwards to Sanatorium Lake. We thought it was more of a dam! We returned to the picnic ground for lunch.
With the assistance of a car shuffle, we walked along a contour for 3.5 km to the summit of Mount Macedon, emerging at the Memorial Cross. The day rounded out with the hospitality of Mount Towrung Winery, apple cake and coffee, in a picturesque setting and the ambience of their artistic family.
