Three Capes Tasmania -week of Walks

Fifteen members stayed at Stewart Bay Lodges at Port Arthur. The long walkers walked between Fortescue Bay and Cape Huay. Cape Huay is one of the capes on the famous 3 Capes track. The short walkers hiked between Fortescue Bay and Canoe Bay and beyond to Bivouac Bay.

On day two thelong walkers walked to Cape Raoul. Another one of the 3 capes on the Tasman Peninsula. The short walkers hiked between Maingon Bay (Remarkable Cave) and Crescent Bay through native flowering native plants hugging the sand dunes down to the glorious beach with a particularly big sand dune.

On day three some braved the inclement weather on a Boat trip along the magnificent eastern cast line of Tasman Island embarking at Pirates Bay. Others enjoyed the locality of  Port Arthur.

Day four saw us all relocate into Hobart. Our Mt Field trip was cancelled due to snow conditions. This walk was replaced with the Queen Elizabeth Cape walk on Bruny Island.

A fitting final day was had walking Mount Wellington, with only patches of snow on summit, but with short and long walks down the mountain giving us magnificent views of the River Derwent Harbour and surrounding islands.
